AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER

How can I make sure that my ego surrender is to the Divine only and not to other people😖? I feel a lot of courage is needed for this that I am unable to muster many times.

Sri Aurobindo has mentioned in The Synthesis of Yoga in the chapter The Master of Works that it is easier to starve the ego by renouncing the impulse to act or to kill it by cutting away from us all movement of personality. I find myself several times taking this easy way of not acting and allowing others to use me at the workplace or in life.

Yes it needs lot of courage to act with the only idea of fulfilling God’s Will. We should neither try to please ourselves nor try to please others. We should neither restlessly itch for action nor try to escape from it because of the various personal and social considerations. By getting rid of preferences and quietening our mind we can receive some reflection of what the Divine Will may want of us. And then simply to follow it.

It may not be possible to perceive or follow it always but even small steps in this direction are helpful and prepare us for the complete consecration.

Affectionately,

Alok Da
