AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

What is the significance of the Hanuman Chalisa, Ganapati Atharvaśīrṣa, the Vishnu Sahasranama and other various Chalisa, Stotras, and similar texts? Are any of these required when one comes to the Mother and Sri Aurobindo? If they are not required, then what is the Significance of all these Practices? 📜🔥

Devotion to the Deity towards whom one is naturally drawn is one of the means of drawing closer to the being, the consciousness, the power and energy of the Deity. Recounting the qualities of the Deity is one of the means of growing in Devotion. Each chalisa is a means to do that to the respective Deity, of course, provided it is done with faith and devotion, not mechanically or with the idea of getting some material benefits.

For someone who chooses to walk the path of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother, there is obviously no need for any  Chalisa or Worship of any other gods. He has to be fully devoted to The Mother, think of Her, meditate upon Her, give oneself to Her. All his gratitude, adoration, love must naturally go to The Mother and none else. That has always been the rule of spiritual life.

Affectionately,

Alok Da
