AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

Bhaiya, I am going to get married soon, and we both are inclined towards the Teachings and the Path of the Mother and Sri Aurobindo. We do not see Relationships and Marriage in the same way, our relatives and parents do. πŸ‘¨πŸ»β€β€οΈβ€πŸ‘©πŸ»πŸŒ„βœ¨[…]

We wish to marry in a very simple and beautiful way, such as in a temple or through a court marriage, but our family and relatives are not ready for this.

So, we decided to fulfill their wishes by following the Rituals and allowing them to invite their dear ones to the marriage. However, as we are progressing, they keep increasing their expectations and adding certain rituals that do not make much sense to us.

Because of this, we have become upset and have ended up having disagreements with them. This has created disharmony, and we feel very bad, as this is such a beautiful journey we are beginning, yet we are not at peace.

Kindly advise what our Attitude should be.

One can never satisfy all the expectations of people. The more you give, the more they would want. This, unfortunately, is the truth of most human natures, especially when they are closely connected. But getting upset and having an unpleasant moments during a beautiful beginning is not a good idea either. So, best for now would be to let them have their say for now. You are already married before the ever-living Presence of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother. Rest is a debt you still owe to the world. Be done with it. After all, it is only a few days. As long as they do not interfere with your life and your journey, go through it, dedicating all this too, to The Divine Mother.Β

May your wedded walk be a harmonious togetherness, a happy and beautiful journey blessed by Her Grace.Β πŸ”₯

Affectionately,

Alok Da

Purification is the indispensable basis for liberation. It means removing the covering and coating of ignorance and falsehood that veils the true self. In the yoga seeking for mukti, the purification has to be less thorough. It is enough to bring some sattwic rectitude in nature, satwasanshuddhi. Transformation proper..

The talk sounded like you were putting down Marriage as a concept! True, some regions do this horse ride/wasting money, which is in bad taste. However, Marriage as a concept gives the monkey minds a framework. πŸ₯ΈπŸ’πŸ’’[…]

Yes, I agree that for the average human being, these outer frameworks and social institutions do serve a purpose of holding people together. Of course, as I mentioned, marriage or not, love and togetherness can be beautiful and ought to be so. But for that, man needs to evolve beyond the present frameworks, which operate as long as one accepts the limits of dos and don’ts. …
