AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

Sir, we have desires, but one cannot demand more than a form. If someone imagines the infinite, they use things like the ocean or the sky, which are forms in themselves. Even the concept of the formless is an attempt to give it a form. The poetry of poets is also in these forms; it attempts to express truth, beauty, love, and everything else within these forms. Sir, can we desire something beyond form? For that, we first need to know of its existence; and if we know that it exists, it will take on a form because we have a mind, is that correct🤔?

Yes, to arrive at the Formless we have to go through the doors of form. To arrive at the infinite we have to go beyond the limits of the finite.  But this is because the two are always together.  Take for example love. It takes different forms in man and animal and plant. But in its formless essence it is everywhere, in stones and sky and beyond. It is there in these as a power of union, as beauty and joy that is not limited to the form but uses the form to express itself.  So also with everything.  Existence, even one’s own existence can be experienced without any reference to the body or any form but simply as an I not limited to the personality, not even to the sense of time and space.  So too Consciousness is everywhere,  Ananda is everywhere but it is limited by the forms it takes. Form is always a means of expressing what exists in creation independent it.

Original question asked in Hindi:

Sir, is time formless? Not the mental time, which only seems like a journey in memory. I have tried to understand time, and I found that I always live and exist in the present; only the events around me are changing. There is no next day; we have become trapped by making clocks according to the sun, living based on the mental values of minutes, hours, days, months, years, centuries, and millennia. But what is time, and is it formless?

Here too the same principle applies. The Infinite and the Eternal is everywhere but its movement through the fields of Space creates Time. This time too takes different forms, at least is experienced differently based on the state of our consciousness. It may slow down or go fast depending upon the perceiving consciousness.

Alok

Original question asked in Hindi:

Well, people are of all kinds everywhere. and you are right about the strong influence of the western society. However dealing with so many persons with different problems I don’t have any low opinion of divorcees, in fact of anyone. People have genuine difficulty in relationships. Evolution is the only thing that is going on in this world. It is so because Time always marches towards the future. But there are two phases of evolution. One is long and slow and micro-evolution. It is a very pertinent and profound question. The word Avatar is used very loosely. The Avatar is when the Divine consciously assumes a body and takes birth to uplift humanity one step further. He does so in a number of ways such as leaving the Divine imprint and of the higher consciousness He embodied for the specific purpose, by His …
