AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER

Sometimes I am so upset in life; I think I should take up Yoga.

Yoga is not done by a despondent heart; it has to be done by a glad heart.

Despondence due to life situations is almost always temporary. It is like a wave that touches and torments us awhile and then passes away. Besides sooner or later the tide of time changes and draw us back into the arms of what has made us upset.

Yoga is done when we understand, not just intellectually but in our heart as well that all is too little that the world can give, that all its gifts are temporary and transient that can at best appease us for a while but cannot satisfy the thirst and the deepest seekings and the highest aspiration of man.

Affectionately,

Alok da.
