If women equality could come by wearing clothes then the logical way would be to popularize men’s dress for women. This is exactly what was tried during the initial phases of the feminist movement. I wonder if the man was familiar with the fact that even upto relatively recent times, men and women already wore dress that was of a single piece. Depending upon how one wore it, it could be a man’s dhoti with an angvastra over the chest or a saree. It allowed a lot of creative freedom (there are nearly 70 ways of tying a dhoti itself). So the man is far behind times. What is needed is to discover that deep within men and women are equal as spiritual beings. And the society must give equal opportunity to women in work and every other area. Rest is all slogan and politics and cheap gimmicks to get money and attention.
Affectionately,
