The concept of twin souls refers to spiritual rather than romantic or other forms of relationship. It implies a deep intense bond between two beings who strengthen each other’s spiritual aspiration, collaborate together in a complimentary way in a common work. Sometimes the bond may mirror each other’s feelings and inner states that can lead to a deep understanding and comprehension of each other and a spontaneous sympathy with each other’s true spiritual needs. They are not drawn together by a seeking for mutual pleasure, emotional satisfactions, fulfilling some need of companionship or anything else. Yet destiny brings them together impelled by a deeper spiritual bond. It may or may not show up as romance or any other signs of intimacy, though the two are happiest with each other for no outer reason. They come together from the same flame and embody very similar aspiration. It may be between two beings of the same gender as we see between Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda or of different genders as we see between Rishi Yajnavalkya and Gargi or Sri Krishna and Draupadi. The relationship itself transcends gender and the barriers of Time, Space and even death.
