AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

I have been working hard to get Kamla Harris get elected. As you know Donald Trump won and has won convincingly. I am sure Republicans think differently, but us Democrats we think that Trump is not good for US or the world. His ambitions are to become a dictator. I, we worry that if Trump, Un, Xi, Putin, Netanyahu and Mush get together it will be a disaster😱. Actually I had had a vision last year about this and that is why I got politically involved. You had given me an example of Ramayan and Mahabharat recently, on the day of elections as results started coming in I was first numb, as Americans have elected him unanimously! That night as I was meditating, I realized the example of Ramayan and Mahabharat, that it had to get so bad and ugly before the Divine intervention. But does that mean we have to wait till that times comes, or is there anything we can do so it won’t happen? I had full faith in Sri Aurobindo and The Mother, but as results started coming in I was questioning my faith.

During meditation I realized that if and when you have faith in the Divine, it has to be full and one can’t question it. And now I am not and I do know and understand about detachment, but I am nowhere there yet. I have a beautiful family and I want to leave this world in better shape than it is right now. We are seeing wars, we are seeing climate change, old era is coming to end and new era is beginning, there are signs all over, but how bad does it have to get?

I don’t see what has faith in the Divine got to do with the winning of this or that political parties. They change every 5 years so should our faith also change based on my wishes or fancies coming true? Then it won’t be faith but reasoned belief. Faith implies that the Divine knows better than us and is leading and will lead us towards the destined goal through everything regardless of appearances. Besides how do we know what is good and from what and whose view point? Republicans in general and President Trump in particular have been good for India. At least he curtailed aid to Pakistan, put checks on the Islamic and the Chinese world, is likely to put a hold to the Ukraine War. The democrats speak big things but in their actual deeds there is a big difference and a lot of hypocrisy and insincerity. So who knows what is best. Democracies keep bringing the narrative that dictatorship is bad. I may agree but are all dictators bad and are all democratically elected leaders good? We need to look behind appearances to understand God’s ways.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

I am quoting from your answer: “This implies a constant practice of equanimity as well as a complete faith in the Divine that whatever is needed will come.” – You mean to say then one need not even think of his bodily needs, like eating, drinking, and a place for living, a sleeping bed, health care, etc., if one has complete faith. 🥸🦋🌻[…]

I am not sure what to do. Mother has been working on my body for it to get pregnant for such a long time. We tried naturally for the last 5 years and finally we went for IVF and now even that has failed. Sometimes my attitude is not right, sometimes my body. 🤰🏼🦋😰[…]

The Divine is not there to fulfil our ignorant desires. Why push and force our ignorant will on God, who knows much better than us as to what is really good for our lives. While I understand the desire for motherhood in a woman, yet that cannot be made the goal and centre of our life.

What if the desire to hold on — the attachment — isn’t rooted in pride or the need to show ownership, but rather in a deep sense of care? A quiet protectiveness, born not from materialism, but from love. What if it’s not about clinging to possessions, but about holding close the people who matter most — not out of selfishness, but from the fear of loss?🤔🌼✨[…]

Yes, attachment and care are not necessarily a negative movement. They are indeed a form of Sattwic love which is certainly higher than the gross rajasic pride and attachment that wants things and people only for one’s …
