Leaving aside the right and wrong of it for a moment, this war in the Middle East is serving two immediate purposes. Firstly, it has completely diverted the mind of the American President away from the tariff wars that were hitting hard at progressive economies. Secondly, it has stirred the hornet’s nest that modern Iran under the Ayatollah has become, – a hard-core Islamist ideology that is quite an anathema to the civilisational values of freedom of expression, acceptance of diversity and tolerance of contradictory views. Whether its nuclear program was going to develop a bomb or not is difficult to say, but if it did, it would have been a real dangerous threat.
Of course, this is not to say that the Americans don’t have personal interest, including indirectly squeezing the Chinese, but it cannot be denied that if there is any country that can counter the danger of Islam, it is Israel, supported by America. The threat of Islam to the world still looms large, especially in collusion with the communist countries. This threat has to be faced at some point or another. It is perhaps better before the Islamic bomb is ready. Whatever turned the mind of the American President from the tariffs to war with Iran has at least given a respite to the nations getting sucked into the economic war. Rest still waits behind the doors of the future. But the intuitive feeling I get is that it is the beginning of the end of the Islamic world.Β
Affectionately,
Alok Da
