AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER

Sir, Nepal’s situation is not going well after the social media ban. Gen Z has started protesting against the government and corruption, and unfortunately, more than 15 people have been shot and over 300 injured. Still protest is going on. What is your perspective on this situation, and what changes do you think might come after these protests? Sir, how should we see the current situation in Nepal from a spiritual perspective🤨?

Do you think this struggle could also be a way towards the progress of the country? What Mother and Sri Aurobindo Ji have said about Nepal?

All the nations are in a state of turmoil right now and this will continue one way or the other till those governing the nation act in personal self-interest and hypocrisy out of fear, lust for power and greed for money. Gen Z uprising is a good sign as it is the young everywhere who are meant to usher the change. But it is equally true that they are vulnerable to political propaganda. Basically Nepal (and all other countries) must reconnect to its roots. The time for democracy is over all around the world as it is easy to sway the opinion of the masses. Oligarchy of some modified kind is likely to be the best for now. Of course Maoist regimes are dangerous and anything would be better than to have the ghost of Lenin and Mao govern the beautiful people of Nepal.

The Mother foresaw this turmoil in all the nations and mentioned it in her New Year message of 1967.

‘Men, countries, continents!

The choice is imperative:
Truth or the abyss.

About the New Year Message of 1967, you say that the choice is between truth or the abyss. The abyss seems to be gaping just in front, yet there is a confidence that it will be removed from the way.

The confidence is quite legitimate.

The message is only for those who are still asleep and quite satisfied with their sleep.

What is the meaning of “abyss” in your New Year’s Message or, put another way, what should a sadhak fear?

Right now there is a great tension. They have all taken positions as if to start war. It is the blind passion that men put into their international relations.

At the base of all there is fear, general distrust, and what they believe to be their “interests” (money, business)—a combination of these three things. When these three lowest passions of humanity are brought into play, that is what I call “the abyss”.

When someone has decided to consecrate his life to the seeking for the Divine, if he is sincere, that is to say, if the resolution is sincere and carried out sincerely, there is absolutely nothing to fear, because all that happens or will happen to him will lead him by the shortest way to this realisation.

That is the response of the Grace. People believe that the Grace means making everything smooth for all your life. It is not true.

The Grace works for the realisation of your aspiration and everything is arranged to gain the most prompt, the quickest realisation—so there is nothing to fear.

Fear comes with insincerity. If you want a comfortable life, agreeable circumstances, etc., you are putting conditions and restrictions, and then you can fear.

But it has no business in the sadhana!’

Affectionately,

Alok Da

Sir, on the morning of mahalaya many people goes to riverside for ‘tarpan’ ritual. Which is to offer water towards the ancestors. Sir , can this ritual be explained from the perspective of Sri Aurobindo’s philosophy🤨?

These rituals are performed for several reasons.

1. It is a way of paying homage and remaining connected to the family roots.

2. From the occult point of view they might help in clearing the earth atmosphere a little bit from the presence of several tiny elemental energies released from the dead that float in the…
