AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

Thou seemest to bewilder my intelligence with a confused and mingled speech; tell me then decisively that one thing by which I may attain to my soul’s weal.||2|| Really I want to know which one book, reading by which will give me the essence and understanding of all scriptural knowledge fully?Because every scripture attracts me.Β (Bhagavsdsm, Ramayanam, Bhavadgita, Upanishads) πŸ“–

Sri Aurobindo’s Savitri contains everything.

If, for some reason, you find it difficult, then simply read Letters on Yoga Volume 1 and 2

Or else stay with and stick to the Gita, especially the one that includes Sri Aurobindo’s commentary.Β

If this is too big, then read the Isha Upanishad along with Sri Aurobindo’s Isavasyam Upanishad.Β

If you prefer story format, then read the Srimadbhagwatam along with the Mahabharata.Β

(follow-up question:)

My time is running out.Β I have less energy and less time. Want to get the maximum benefits in minimum reading.

If you feel this way, then instead of reading, just take the Divine Name, whatever appeals to you most, or do the mantra Japa, such as the mantra, ‘OM Namo Bhagawate.’

(follow-up question:)

Every scriptural Mahatmiyam says that’s The Best. Also, everything is sweet. Regarding Sri Aurobindo’s books, they are guidance of far-off Yoga. I am not eligible. It’s too high. So, here in my ordinary human life, by reading what, can I get fulfillment before leaving the world?

Take God’s Name. It is the shortest and sweetest way towards every possible fulfilment.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

First step is to be sure of the Call for this yoga which is not undertaken for any personal goals such as Moksha, becoming a yogi, superman etc. It’s sole purpose is to find and become one with the Divine in all His totality and to work towards the Divine Manifestation in and through oneself and the world. Transformation is the process of the Divine Manifestation in the individual’s life.Β
