The idea of good and bad itself is an error of the mind since it does not have the knowledge to judge anything. A man doing very well outwardly, rich and successful with a happy family life but with no higher aspiration is bad from a higher standpoint. On the other hand a man languishing in a jail punished for no crime may feel awakened in him a higher seeking turning this bad into a higher good. The only thing important in life is the urge to progress, to learn, to grow, and for one who is ready, he can learn from everything and progress through mistakes, errors and even failures and falls.
But if you ask what makes one turn towards wrong doing then it is mainly a seeking for pleasure, being governed almost entirely by the desire-self and a selfishness that lives for its own little happiness. Company of course is important but then who choses the company? One can’t blame others for one’s choices.
The remedy is to learn to love, to serve, to learn to sacrifice and place progress rather than happiness as the goal.
Affectionately,
