AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER

I’ve heard that observing the Janmashtami fast is said to be equivalent to the merit of a hundred or more Ekadashi fasts. Is their any special significance of doing fast on that day🤨?

There is no such short cut method to our inner evolution and God is not pleased by us keeping hungry one day or many days even. As a Divine Parent as Sri Krishna declares himself in the Gita, etadayoni, he is the womb of all things, mamaivansha, all as his portions, he would rather be happy to see us become like him, grow in his image than follow our own fanciful rituals. Sri Krishna himself never kept fast, nor did his closest aides and friends do so. In the Gita he rather insists on balance and moderation and shows us the way to realise union with Him while leading a normal life. I suppose we should rather listen to him and follow his example than what the pundits tell us.

Affectionately,

Alok Da
