Nishkam Karma, or desireless action, refers to an action that is not motivated by the desire for the fruits or results. To the common understanding that takes desire to be the pivot of all action, this may seem this may seem like an invitation into inaction. However, even in ordinary life, desire is not the sole motivator. There is also habit and idealism. The purpose of disinheriting the push of desire is to be eventually moved by the Divine Will alone.
