AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

Can we read  Mother’s  Agenda🤔?

The short answer is yes, one should read the Agenda because it contains some very important aspects of Her life and work that one does not find elsewhere. However, it is best to read it after one has read Her earlier works, at least the Conversations and Prayers and Meditations. The Agenda contains the aspect of sadhana during the physical transformation and portions of Her life as connected with this work. To read it prematurely (or as some do only) may give an erroneous impression of what the yoga is about.

Secondly should also remember that the Agenda contains quite a few remarks and impressions of Satprem to which the Mother responded in a certain contextual way. This contains Her remarks about some disciples about whom the Mother has said very different things at different times. Reading about them only through the Agenda gives a very skewed idea about them.

Thirdly, the last bit about the Mother’s physical withdrawal was written by Satprem in a state of personal anguish and anger and hence should not be taken as the gospel of Truth. He was not personally present during the last 6 months and the account of those present and intimately involved is different in many respects.

All in all, it is a gold mine but with mixtures due to the very nature of the conversation, mainly with one particular disciple. One has to have the discernment to discard the mixture, which is often not easy, as it gets blended with the conversation or is prompted by the disciple with a clear, motivated intention. If one can discern between the two and keep mainly to Her Yoga and Life as recounted in the Agenda, then it is no doubt a very useful document. Though portions of the Agenda are published in Collected Works of the Mother Volume 10 and 11, which contain most of the important milestones, yet there are interesting links missing that one finds in the Agenda.

I am drawn to the Mother’s Teachings, and for the past couple of years spent quite some time reading and taking notes on a variety of subjects. I now feel that I have read enough and it is time for me to start living them. I am doing that, slowly and steadily, notably in work and in parenting. Also, with regards to my health, I am making efforts to regularly exercise, eat a good diet, etc. The Mother herself said this: “It is best to live a Divine teaching”. 😊🙏🏻🌸🌏[…]

Your aspiration as well as anguish is quite understandable. Yes, there are so many things in the writings of Sri Aurobindo that would be of immense benefit to anyone regardless of whether one takes up the yoga or not. There is so much in the field of personal growth in several ways, so much of deepest wisdom in fields of ….

I heard in your recent talk that for a long time of 12 years, the Sadhana moves with ups and downs, but after 12 years, the Sadhana becomes smooth and blissful. Kindly add some more words to it, dear Alok da, as it gives me a sense of Reassurance. 😊🙏🏻🪷❤️‍🔥

I said that it is mentioned in spiritual literature that it takes almost 12 years for the basic purification to take place before one is ready to take off properly. It may take long or short depending upon the sincerity. Also one may …

I believed earlier that all of the manifested Universe is a part of the Apara Prakriti. But the Mother says that nature is infra-rational? But then I wonder whether reason is an instrument of Para Prakriti? Isn’t it too imperfect? What is the joining link of Nature with the Mother? 🌌🤔❤️‍🔥🪷

Para and Apara Prakriti are simply two different modes of working of One Consciousness-Force. In its origin it is the Conscious Power of the Divine, also called as the Shakti of the Ishwara. The knowledge in the Shakti or …
