What does it mean to love from afar? How does one love if one is not able to communicate, send tokens of remembrance, or express affection through service? :)

If the basis of love is true, moved by some soul remembrance or psychic affinity, then it can burn silently in the quiet chambers of the heart. The possibility of such a rare love has been immortalized in the story of Radha and Krishna. It has been the subject of two wonderful plays by Kalidasa, – Meghdootam and Nala Damayanti. Even in ordinary life, men on duty in distant places continue to love inspite of the separation. It may not be common but it is possible,  it has happened and continues to happen even today.

Of course physical contact is necessary at some point of the unfolding of love but there is a difference between love based upon the body and love based upon something deeper and inner.  Of course fullness of love does require the interchange through the vital and mental beings but if it were denied due to circumstances the flame of love fed by the fuel of sacrifice of desires can continue to burn forever.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

Would be grateful for your guidance regarding a dream that has stayed with me: I dreamt that I entered an old palace. There were two thrones. The woman you saw was certainly an aspect of Durga. The guru is the priest invoking her and putting you in contact with her. It is quite possible that it was an occult ritual ceremony, a kind of dream initiation in response to your application for the Linga Bhairavi registration. The deity must have been drawn to you specifically due to …
