AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

Please can you explain what Dynamic meditation means. Mother speaks about this in Question and answer book 14th March 1956. I am unable to understand🤔.

Ordinarily meditation implies either taking up an idea and centering the thoughts around it, or else witnessing the chain of thoughts non-judgmentally until it begins to loosen and weaken for want of inner sanction. Then the thoughts slow down and the mind moves towards a  quiescent state. Or else one actively rejects the thoughts to make the mind silent.  Meditation is a mental process.  Then there is the practice of concentration of consciousness on one or another inner centres to open to the vaster subliminal and cosmic consciousness.

Dynamic meditation means that we add to our meditation a purpose,  a conscious aim through an aspiration.  This aspiration then directs the thought towards its fulfilment.  For example aspiration for Beauty or Love or Knowledge or Peace, one or the other aspects or upon the Divine Himself.  It means that while the process of meditation is used to quieten the mind, then the mind must be filled with the aspiration from within thus making it dynamic and not just a state of passive blank that changes nothing and into which the same old forces can enter again.

Affectionately,

Alok Da
