AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

I understand I need to let go of my father now. But before I got to know you and started bothering you with my unending questions, my father was my teacher💖. I had never realized how well read my father was until I started reading Sri Aurobindo’s books about 7 years ago, that too with lot of skepticism.

Now my question is, after my vision where Dada took me thru the wall (well he passed thru the wall and I remember I came out of the room thru the physical door.) and I had the soul contact with him, you had mentioned that he is with The Mother now, and I had very strong feeling and still have that conviction that the Karmic account between us is resolved, is it still not good to think about him as much I do?

It is never good to think of those who have passed beyond except when there is genuine gratitude and in a loving way. Memories, attachments, emotional ties etc do not do any good to either and may even be harmful.

The reason this came up last night is, I think Dada has become the connection between me and Shri Aurobindo and The Mother. Because I start each meditation with praying to Shri Aurobindo and The Mother, but yesterday some thought and the image of Dada came in front of my eyes before I went into kind of trance, and I was able to go deep in. I was aware of the fact that Dada had something to do with it.

It is the association in the mind of the help you received from him. That helped during the meditation. It was like a deep psychic memory and not an actual contact.

What is going on between myself and my father? Is this healthy or am I being selfish and hindering his advancement?

It is an attachment that keeps bringing up the memory again and again. It may not make any difference to him but is not good for you.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

Purification is the indispensable basis for liberation. It means removing the covering and coating of ignorance and falsehood that veils the true self. In the yoga seeking for mukti, the purification has to be less thorough. It is enough to bring some sattwic rectitude in nature, satwasanshuddhi. Transformation proper..

Can we understand Sri Aurobindo and His yoga with the physical mind, as you say physical mind never grasps the Truth in its highest sense. So if we feel good by reading Sri Aurobindo or The Mother, even that is from the physical plane, wanting a good, perfect physical life. 😅❤️‍🔥🦋 […]

The talk sounded like you were putting down Marriage as a concept! True, some regions do this horse ride/wasting money, which is in bad taste. However, Marriage as a concept gives the monkey minds a framework. 🥸💍💒[…]

Yes, I agree that for the average human being, these outer frameworks and social institutions do serve a purpose of holding people together. Of course, as I mentioned, marriage or not, love and togetherness can be beautiful and ought to be so. But for that, man needs to evolve beyond the present frameworks, which operate as long as one accepts the limits of dos and don’ts. …
