AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

I have some doubts regarding mantra chanting, I am chanting ” Om Namo Bhagwate Sri Aurobindai” and ” Om Anandmayi Chaityana Satyamayi Parame”, and one Name, “Maa Sri Aurobindo”. But I am confused with some traditional problems that above two are mantras should not chant when I am not clean or in any dirty place. But last mantra, “Ma Sri Aurobindo” is name and I can do it anywhere, anytime, doing anything, even in bathroom🤨?

Sri Aurobindo and The Mother never gave any outer (or even inner conditions) for chanting Their Names or the mantras. Even Sri Krishna does not give any such conditions. In fact he goes on to say, – and Sri Aurobindo confirms this, that even a wicked and fallen man chants God’s name he is soon liberated.

All this is the fabrication of the pundits. Perhaps they may apply to certain deities who may demand certain outer conditions for them to act. But the Divine is everywhere and in everything. All that He needs as a point of support is faith.

Both the mantras you mention invoke the Hoghest Divine whose very invocation purifies and redeems. In fact one can call their name anytime.

As to choosing the mantra, it should be that with which your inner being spontaneously connects. It is best if it is short and represents to you or brings to your mind Their image and Presence.

It is perfectly fine to remember Sri Aurobindo sometimes and the Mother at other times or both. A certain degree of plasticity is helpful in spiritual matters. In any case the Mother and Sri Aurobindo are one and the same in two bodies. One can very simply say Maa Maa Maa Maa Maa Maa Maa and that is enough.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

Regarding the Four Aspects of the Mother, Alok da, I sense a parallel in Sri Aurobindo’s evaluation of various poets in which they excel and in which they lack. Poets like Keats have a lyrical sweetness and beauty but lack vital power and raw force, which a poet like Browning has. 📜✒️😊🙏🏻🪷[…]

Yes. Not only in poetry as you have rightly pointed out, but in everything, in the least atom and grain of sand one can see the working of the four aspects and the Knowledge and Power of the Divine Mother hidden behind it. ..

Today evening while meditating on mother’s organ music on fairy dance, firstly I saw a living mountain having two big eyes and it was seeing all around with those eyes and then a number appeared again and again in that vision it is a number 349 what does it’s means sir.

The living mountain is the physical consciousness under the influence of the Psychic aspiration. 349 perhaps means the 3 lower and 4 higher planes that are embedded or involved within the physical consciousness represented by number 9. The dream implies that your physical consciousness is open to the Divine Influence.
