AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

How much does being humble, polite, kind, and respectful of others’ perspectives, contribute to the practice of Mother’s yoga😇?

Humility is a great quality but it should be only in reference to the Divine. And the Divine cannot be captured by any or all the perspectives or sects and paths. However sometimes one can feel His breath in certain movements, thoughts, feelings, gestures of people and it should fill our heart with gratitude and humility.

Politeness is a social virtue and has its place as long as it does not become an excuse for weakness that tolerates falsehood and unconsciousness just because one wants to remain polite and look good.

Being kind, courteous, generous and respectful are again great human qualities but it should mean that one should show agreement and nod one’s head in affirmation to whatever others say. One can remain silent when there is a disagreement of views and it is perhaps the best policy in personal conversations. But doing so in public discussions is not necessarily a good thing. The quest for Truth must be impersonal and not based on personal sentiments which belong to a different domain altogether.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

My friend called me and told me that he had a dream in which I was reading Savitri and explaining to him how Savitri accepts and embraces human struggles. Then he told me that he felt a strange sense of déjà vu, as if he had already told me about this before. Is there any meaning to this dream? 📖💭

This dream suggests an old connection with Savitri, the book, and perhaps with you as well. It seems something deeply imprinted in the psychic being, some kind of a soul memory or so. Difficult to say more than that.

Connecting the dots began when Their words gave meaning and touch to my life. When adverse forces rushed in and urged me to escape the cosmos, Sri Arvind and Sri MA anchored me with the truth that Her work is to be done right here on Earth. I learned that true understanding does not lie in the mind’s synthesis, but in quietude and inner union. First Union with the Divine, then Work. 🌸🙏🏻

Yes, I understand. What I have understood as the essence and crux of this yoga is opening and surrender to The Mother. The whole secret and safety lies in this central secret of the integral Yoga as Sri Aurobindo put it. Here are few passages that reveal to us the core of the integral yoga.

‘By remaining psychically open to the Mother, all that is necessary for work or sadhana develops progressively,…
