AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

What causes restlessness, lately I feel very restless there is a sense of weird urgency as there is some I should be doing but I am not getting a hold of it. My 9 to 5 feels suffocating as if a part of me resisting to be bound to a place and time. In a recent talk you Mentioned Jonathan livingston Seagull, I read it and it is one of the best books I have ever read. Dada I would love for you to suggest similar books you know 🙂

Restlessness comes due to some desire or the other of which we are not yet conscious. The desire pushes from behind, the nerves respond trying to reach out to the object of desire. But since the mind has put a cover of unconsciousness the nerves do not know what to do and where to go. Hence the restlessness. One should grow conscious of what one is looking for in life and make conscious choices about life goals etc.

As to books, my favourites were Jonathan, Livingstone, Illusions, Prophet (Khalil Gibran), Gitanjali, Kalidasa, Anandmath, stories by Sharat Chandra, Acharya Chatursena, Rangeya Raghav, Rashmirathi by Dinkar, Plato, Homer and many others. One should read and read widely. It is a habit we have largely lost, but one that is very helpful in many ways.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

Yes, all other paths are included and integrated here. But once the soul is found, there is a freedom to chose, – either to opt out of the further evolutionary journey and the collective yoga or to engage with it consciously.
