AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

When in life we face challenges or we have to make important decisions, then the mind comes forward with its different analyses and makes us confused, or tries to create fear in the being, or sometimes it makes us believe that we are taking decisions based on preference, not on valid reason, so that it makes us doubt our own decisions. What should we do in that situation? How to deal with the mind? ๐Ÿ˜ฃ

Fear and anxiety are of course the worst counselors. One has to make oneself quiet, as quiet as possible before we can truly decide. Mind and reason too often give inconclusive answers, partly because the mind has no certain way of knowing the future which we almost want to control. Secondly, the human mind can justify almost anything and everything. Preferences, desires, ambitions, ego all are experts in the craft of deception. It is best therefore to see things correctly, as they are, rather than justify one way or the other. Seeing this correctly is possible only if we are not burdened by the idea of right and wrong. The mind then almost invariably covers up what it considers as wrong and presents a nice acceptable justification for it. We have to see things as movements of Nature and then see what will help us align and grow closer to the Mother and the goal before us and what comes in the way. Thus the choice becomes simpler and easier. However, even when we are able to discern this, we may not yet be able to do it. In that case too one should offer the movements to the Mother. And finally, whatever be the course taken, we should surrender the result entirely in Her hands.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

I feel the pressure on my crown when I do meditation. Also, is this a common occurrence? This crown thing? It appears now and again randomly and gains momentum during meditation. Meditations have literally changed. It feels like as though I took a subtle bath(a rather risky turn of phrase ) every time I meditate. Why is this happening to me? When does the Force choose you? ๐Ÿง˜โœจ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

Yes. Pressure upon the crown takes place before the full opening.

Many, many, many experiences come. It is best not to get too much into analysing, understanding them else one can easily get distracted or the ego may get puffed up. It is like getting delayed by the scenery on the way. Stay focused on giving oneself more and more to the Divine, growing in faith, sincerity, love and surrender,…

Someone asked me whether Sri Aurobindo has adopted the ideas from Hegel and Kant. How can I reply to him? Please help me and refer to some books.ย  ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿง โœจ

People who make such remarks are unfortunately very poorly informed about either Bergson and Kant let alone Sri Aurobindo whom they have certainly not read.ย

Sri Aurobindo’s major works include two treatises on the Vedas including a deep and intricate study of Vedic philology, the major Upanishads with a detailed commentary on the Isha and Kena, detailed essays on the Gita, Foundations of Indian Culture. His two most important works has, one, the story of Savitri as a base; the second,..
