AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

Yesterday on my morning walk when I saw workers out there sweeping the roads it suddenly struck me that how much do we have to battle against the dust, rust and filth from our own homes to the entire ecosystems of cities. Corrosion, decay, smell and bacteria keep us on vigilance every single day. Is this cos of the inconscient foundation of the cosmos? How to understand it metaphysically🤨?

Not taking care of the material basis of life is the sign of unconsciousness and stems from the old idea of disgust of the world. This indifference creates a lack of civic sense and the sense of beauty in outer life. At its bottom it is a kind of selfishness where one is bothered only about oneself including one’s own progress leaving the rest to be somehow taken care of by someone.

But apart from the attitude behind it, much of it is the offshoot of the way mind handles nature. One seldom finds this rot and dirt and filth in the forests inhabited by the animal life. In our pursuit of desires, pleasures and comforts, we have created structures and systems, machines and factories that pollute everything from the soil to the sky. Hopefully this is a passing phase and mankind is indeed becoming conscious of the damage it has caused to earthly life and, as it grows in consciousness, it will find a way to heal the damage it has caused.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

The talk sounded like you were putting down Marriage as a concept! True, some regions do this horse ride/wasting money, which is in bad taste. However, Marriage as a concept gives the monkey minds a framework. 🥸💍💒[…]

Yes, I agree that for the average human being, these outer frameworks and social institutions do serve a purpose of holding people together. Of course, as I mentioned, marriage or not, love and togetherness can be beautiful and ought to be so. But for that, man needs to evolve beyond the present frameworks, which operate as long as one accepts the limits of dos and don’ts. …
