AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER

Bhaiya, you often say that making progress should be our aim. What exactly do you mean by ‘making progress’😳?

Progress means to expand one’s capacities, – spiritual, intellectual, emotional, vital, physical by whatever means at one’s disposal.

Spiritual capacity increases by increasing the aspiration, reading scriptures and books of wisdom that are filled with the higher spiritual vibrations, contemplating upon the Divine and the ultimate mysteries of existence and,  through the company of those who induce, inspire, and infuse the spiritual seeking.

Intellectual capacity increases by learning to think rightly, by practicing meditation, concentration, wideness and plasticity to understand and synthesise different viewpoints, inner quietude and control of speech.

Emotional capacity increases by increasing in oneself forebearance, forgiveness, kindness, love and care, capacity to deal with hurts, mastery over anger, hate, jealousies etc.

Vital capacity increases by putting the energies and the engines of life to good use, unselfish purposes, working for a higher ideal, most of all through service of the Divine.

Physical capacity increases by regular exercises, forming good and healthy habits and lifestyle, giving the mind and body sufficient rest and proper food, regularity and punctuality in work.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

While reading The Sunlit Path, I came across the Mother’s statement that ‘Reason must be the Master’ and that Reason is developed by using it. I’m unsure about what she exactly mean by ‘Reason’ in this context🤔.

Also, what kind of habits or inner attitudes can I cultivate so that reason becomes an active, guiding force in life.

She means governing life with the help of reason, disciplining the vital so that it does not run around like a wild horse pulled by all kinds of impulses. It means being reasonable rather than be driven by fancies and desires. It…
