AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

How important is it to be spiritually on the same page in a marriage. Is it not that its a journey for both the partners where one is behind and one is ahead. Being behind or ahead should not matter as long as the journey takes them to the same destination🛣️

It of course helps if both the partners are on the same path and have the same goal. It creates a bonding at the deepest level and holds them together despite the rubbings of the ego. But marriage is much more than walking together. The joy of togetherness comes when there are affinities, commonality of ideals, shared thoughts and feelings building a long term companionship, mutual care and respect, complementary of life, and many other things.

Being behind or ahead is rather difficult to say since true spiritual life moves along several lines like people walking to the same peak on the same mountain but from different routes. It is not of so much importance but yes, if they share the same pace and are at the same stage of inner development then the mutual understanding can be very deep and complete creating the perfect condition for being together.

“There is no criterion, but one can easily distinguish if one is in the inward condition, not sleep, in which most visions take place, by the nature of the impression made. A vision in a dream is more difficult to distinguish from a vivid dream-experience but one gets to feel the difference”- from Letters of Yoga. Alok Da, can you please explain the last line written by Sri Aurobindo? 🌄

A vivid dream experience is generally of a symbolic nature that reveals a deeper truth through the sign language of dreams. A vision, on the other hand is an…
