AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

I don’t want to get married, but my single mother wants me to get married. I do want to get a job, but unable to get any. I don’t want to hurt my mother, but I know that I can’t handle married life. 😭[…]

She wants me to go to the temple, but I want to go to the Relics Shrine every day. I shout at her and immediately feel bad for hurting her. Should I do a job or not? What should I do? Help me Dada, please.

One should not get married just to satisfy and fulfil parents’ wishes. One should instead address their worries by showing them that you are a strong, capable, independent person who does not need anyone. For that, your first necessity is to be financially independent. Besides taking up a job will also help you to be productive and keep your mind in focus. Going to the Relics centre is fine, but you must also take up some service.Β

Getting angry at your mother will only complicate things. Find the inner causes of anger and root them out. Most important is to stay busy and do some regular physical exercises.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

But there are beautiful soul-uplifting bhajans with equally beautiful music that flows from the depths which is even helpful at one stage of sadhana, especially in the preliminary stages. An example of the former type could be, ‘suna hai …

Dada, I watched the Movie Dhurandhar (Part 1 & 2). The struggle of the main character felt like a present-day Arjuna. I would love to hear your thoughts on it. Is there any Spiritual Lesson we can take from it? πŸΉπŸ˜ŠπŸ™πŸ»πŸŽžοΈπŸŒ»πŸŽ¬

From the archetype point of view, the character of the main protagonist (hero) in this film is more like Abhimanyu except that it ends up with a happier fate. Like Abhimanyu, he enters into the enemy ranks from where coming out was near impossible. He is trained but inexperienced, again like Abhimanyu. He is valiant, courageous, puts …

In one of your lectures on β€œPlanned Action and Divine Action,” you mentioned that when we are praised or felicitated, one should neither deny it nor take personal pride in it. πŸ™πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈπŸͺ·βœ¨[…]

Yes, if one looks within and finds that one has done what best one could do in a given situation, then one should remain inwardly quiet and see why one gets disturbed by the criticism. It is generally either because one expects some appreciation or praise or at least..
