AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

I listened to your most recent Savitri audio. You are on “towards the black void.” You mentioned the Vaitarani. Can you explain what that is? And how do we cross it in the context of the Mother’s Yoga? πŸŒΌπŸŒ„βœ¨

Vaitarani (the river that frees you from mortal remnants), known in Greek mythology as the river Styx, is a stream of energy that supposedly flows in a direction opposite to the life current. It is the boundary between the realm of mortal life (the living or earth) and the realm of death. Before passing through this flow of energy, one still remains attached to earth through fragments of memories, fleeting emotions, various subconscious ties and pulls. But once the river is crossed, it is all erased and the soul passes through different vital realms and, skirting through mind worlds, goes to the place of rest in the psychic world. They can be assisted in this process through prayers and thoughts of love from those left behind.Β

The genuine devotees of whoever their Ista is, are watched over by the gods, though they too cannot enter the realms of Death except for the great Gods. The Mother’s children are carried safely directly to the Abode of Sri Aurobindo in the subtle physical. Nothing is needed for them, but some people follow the tradition and send their prayers and thoughts and love, as well as read Savitri for the departed as an additional help. 🌼

Affectionately,

Alok Da
