AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

I, Mother and my wife are in my house.  My mother’s age is 70.  My wife and my mother are quarreling with each other. I don’t know what to do.  I told my wife to cooperate with my mother and not to quarrel. 👩🏼‍🦳👱🏼‍♂️👩🏼‍🦰[…]

My wife says, ‘I can’t be with your mother. I am getting irritated by your mother.  Be in comfort with your mother, if you want. I will go elsewhere.’ My mother says, ‘Your wife doesn’t talk to me properly, not taking care of me properly.’ Because I go everywhere. How should I deal with this situation? What do I have to say? Should I support my mother or my wife?

You have to take the side of what is true and right and good and beautiful. When you do so, then sometimes your mother may not like it, and at other times your wife may not agree. Yet in your consciousness, you should not take sides with people because the ego takes a personal interest in them, but the side of dharma, not social duties and obligations that are mistakenly considered as dharma, but what your deepest heart feels right, what will lead to a better mutual understanding and harmony, light and peace, and a happy atmosphere. If they are not interested in it, then stay inwardly detached, turned to the Divine, pray for both of them, and then let each follow the curve of their destiny.

Affectionately,

Alok Da
