AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

I primarily do Nama Japa and try to remember the Mother before doing any work, most of the time, except when reading Mother and Sri Aurobindo’s writings. πŸ§‘πŸ»β€πŸ€β€πŸ‘©πŸ»πŸ˜πŸŒΉβœ¨[…]

You’re saying I should find time for the same in the midst of attending to my familial duties when I’m married. Am I right? If I’m correct, wouldn’t being married take my time and attention away from Sadhana? Wouldn’t Sadhana be less intense then?

Yes, that is what I meant about the complications that married life brings. However, it is also a good preparation, as it opens the heart’s doors to human love and finer emotions such as tender affection, teaches us the spirit of sacrifice. People who have not gone through the marriage experience often tend to become somewhat self-centred and lacking in empathy. Ultimately, what matters is the inner attitude.Β

It is, however, always better to share with the would-be partner your deeper goals and spiritual bent so that she is not taken by surprise at your leanings and inclinations, especially the path and the way of life you have chosen.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

Alok da, how do I deal with this sense of fusion, that I feel within my being, as if I’m a bit torn apart, because I feel like I want to take part in all that is part of the bourgeois ideal, like a bit of marital sweetness, a bit of cultural activities, good money, societal prestige, etc. … 😣πŸ‘₯πŸ«‚πŸŒ„πŸ’–[…]

These longings are normal and natural at your age. There is nothing wrong in going through these aspects of life consciously, offering it all at the Mother’s Feet for purification and with an aspiration that the togetherness with your prospective partner be not just a means of personal pleasure but a means for Her Work …
