Which book of Mona da is it mentioned? I have not come across it. Would like to see the reference. Sri Aurobindo’s own assessment of him was that he was a passionate sentimental idealist with the streak of ambition that drove him. Of course this comment refers to his personaity and nature in this life. It is not any judgment upon his soul. It is quite possible for someone to have quite a developed soul and yet be riddled with difficulties in his nature. In fact often enough those who have reached a certain degree of soul-development have tagged along with them a shadow which obstinately opposes them. Dilip Kumar Roy, Harindranath Chattopadhyay are well-known examples of carrying this inner self-contradiction between soul and nature which, in some measure, is present in everyone who has reached a certain degree of development. It is like a growing light that begins to cast a shadow upon a field that was otherwise in complete darkness.
Affectionately,
Alok Da
