AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

Sometimes there are traditions or norms, such as not shaving or getting a haircut on certain days, and so on. So, what is Maa’s point of view about it? How should one act? All the time, there is a message in mind… Please share Maa’s opinion about it…🙂

All these customs and traditions developed due to certain local situations and circumstances. For example, this particular so-called rule may have been agreed upon to give rest to the barbers for a day. The Mother and Sri Aurobindo are way above all these things. In fact, even an authentic spiritual person doesn’t give cognisance to these things. The Mother allowed girls to meet her participate freely in physical education activities during menstrual periods, which, she said, were mainly rules of hygiene. In fact, she did not subscribe to or prescribe any rituals. Spirituality is a thing primarily of an inner change from which our outer activities must increasingly flow. The spiritual consciousness moves in a wide freedom and plasticity far above these habits and customs.

Affectionately,

Alok Da
