Desire is a movement of ignorance because we really do not know whether what our heart desires is really good for us or not. Often, an apparent immediate success turns out to be a big obstacle from the soul’s point of view, as it distracts and ties us completely to the surface life. Whereas sometimes what is painful in the short term proves to be a beautiful turning point towards a greater good in the long run. So it is best that even while praying for what we think of as our immediate need, we should leave it entirely in the Divine hands to grant or deny, since He knows better than us the long-term and deeper consequences of everything.Β
Besides, this attitude also builds a beautiful bond of complete trust and dependence upon the Divine, which obviously has far-reaching consequences across lives.
(Follow-up Question:)
Sir, in another video, you said that having any kind of fear is the biggest obstacle to Sadhana. But Sir, how can a person be fearless amidst tremendous challenges and difficulties?
One grows fearless by putting one’s trust completely in the Divine with full faith and confidence in the Grace. Best of course is to discover the Divine Presence within and know that the Divine is always with us, and with Him controlling us and our destiny, there is nothing to worry or fear.
Affectionately,
Alok Da
