AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

In Savitri 🕊️Book 1 Canto 4 it is written that-  “We are sons of God and must be even as he: His human portion, we must grow divine.” If we are sons of God then why in most of the human beings animality is dominant rather than divinity?

Because the child has forgotten this simple truth, like a child separated from his parents soon after birth, much like the story of Mowgli reared by the animals. Even the child of man grows through the years passing through the animal stages, educates and evolves into a human. The same process applies in the development of the seed of divinity in us. That is why Sri Aurobindo bridges the gap what we are in our essence and what we should be by using the word must. And again since we are his human portion we must ‘grrow’ Divine. And all who sincerely wish to be so have the Help as well as the example of the Avatar.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

The talk sounded like you were putting down Marriage as a concept! True, some regions do this horse ride/wasting money, which is in bad taste. However, Marriage as a concept gives the monkey minds a framework. 🥸💍💒[…]

Yes, I agree that for the average human being, these outer frameworks and social institutions do serve a purpose of holding people together. Of course, as I mentioned, marriage or not, love and togetherness can be beautiful and ought to be so. But for that, man needs to evolve beyond the present frameworks, which operate as long as one accepts the limits of dos and don’ts. …
