AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

I’ve been pondering on the question why you get attracted to certain people as friends. Somebody quoted mother as saying that it is because people recognise each other in the subtle physical. Can you explain this🤔?

The Mother spoke of affinities. There can be several levels of affinity that is instinctively and intuitively felt. There is psychic affinity that goes through several births between beings who carry a similar spiritual aspiration. This is of course the strongest as also a spiritual affinity that is drawn towards similar conceptions of the Divine. There is mental affinity between the structure and patterns of thoughts and a nervous vital affinity between the subtle physical envelope and the general working of the life energy. Finally there is physical affinity, a spontaneous sense of harmony between the physical substance of two people. All this is felt by an intrinsic subtle physical sense in us.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

The talk sounded like you were putting down Marriage as a concept! True, some regions do this horse ride/wasting money, which is in bad taste. However, Marriage as a concept gives the monkey minds a framework. 🥸💍💒[…]

Yes, I agree that for the average human being, these outer frameworks and social institutions do serve a purpose of holding people together. Of course, as I mentioned, marriage or not, love and togetherness can be beautiful and ought to be so. But for that, man needs to evolve beyond the present frameworks, which operate as long as one accepts the limits of dos and don’ts. …
