AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER

Rule of ego may be over but it doesn’t appear so in the outer life today, especially in India – I just went there for month and saw it myself how the culture has turned to worship anyone with 100 Cr + and all the rest of the nonsense – how 50% of the people are living in horrible conditions and the 2.5% are controlling everything. Now one thing about these ‘big heads’ is that they all have a massive ego – ego beyond anything – they live in the vital and hold a lot of lower vital force😥.

Appearances are often misleading and as far as the average mass of mankind is concerned, especially the breed of politicians and business houses, it is very much the same. The variations are only in dress, demeanour and the language. Also we are often looking for the right thing in the wrong places. I can speak about my own experience. I have travelled to each and every state of India, closely interacted with people of every strata, and, having also travelled fairly extensively to the five major continents, i can only say that even a poor and illiterate Indian is inwardly more rich in his intuitive understanding and sattwic self culture than most of humanity world over. Unfortunately there is a strong adverse influence of the Western Corporate culture where the soul is sold for gold, and the false socialistic propaganda where State and its machinery stifles the soul. But the average Indian living in small towns has so far escaped this influence. This is where the hope lies and not in the corridors of power and money or in the slums maintained for political purposes. The average Indian led quite a sattwic, contented life before the commercial toys for pleasure and amusement were brought in here and desires flooded the market like snakes let loose. India’s mistake was in aping the Western materialism and the Russian/Chinese model of Socialism and Communism. But that is a different story. There is a wide resurgence of India’s innate dharma, the Sanatana Dharma and things look better and the future better and luminous in spite of the present difficulties.

Of course ego is never an easy thing to conquer. It can wear a million deceptive masks, the most illusive being the mask of righteousness and the elite, the supremacist as it is called today. Conquering the ego is a difficult task with which very few are entrusted. But if mankind in general can cultivate at least the sattwic ego instead of the ambiguous rajasic mode, things would be so much better.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

Are the processes of Purification and Transformation the same thing? I have a little confusion. In the process of Purification, we face some adverse forces that are mentioned by Sri Aurobindo in the chapter ‘The difficulties of Transformation’. Are they the same? 🔥🌄[…]

Purification is the indispensable basis for liberation. It means removing the covering and coating of ignorance and falsehood that veils the true self. In the yoga seeking for mukti, the purification has to be less thorough. It is enough to bring some sattwic rectitude in nature, satwasanshuddhi. Transformation proper..

Can we understand Sri Aurobindo and His yoga with the physical mind, as you say physical mind never grasps the Truth in its highest sense. So if we feel good by reading Sri Aurobindo or The Mother, even that is from the physical plane, wanting a good, perfect physical life. 😅❤️‍🔥🦋 […]

Yes, it is difficult for the physical mind to shift its fixed position and comfort zones..It feels lost and insecure. But once it accepts the New Idea then it gets firmly established there. It is somewhat like…

The talk sounded like you were putting down Marriage as a concept! True, some regions do this horse ride/wasting money, which is in bad taste. However, Marriage as a concept gives the monkey minds a framework. 🥸💍💒[…]

Yes, I agree that for the average human being, these outer frameworks and social institutions do serve a purpose of holding people together. Of course, as I mentioned, marriage or not, love and togetherness can be beautiful and ought to be so. But for that, man needs to evolve beyond the present frameworks, which operate as long as one accepts the limits of dos and don’ts. …
