AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

Should children dedicate their entire lives to their parents because they gave birth to them, raised them, and made many sacrifices? Some children even say, ‘My parents are like gods to me, if they asked me to jump into a well, I wouldn’t question it.’🤨

This is an absurd logic and contradicts the very core of Indian culture. The Gita, the Mahabharata, the Ramayana are all about dedicating our life to Dharma. One is not supposed into any well at anybody’s command including one’s own! After all parents are very much part of the general ignorance, driven by their own preconceived notions and ambitions and desires. What if they ask their son to ask for dowry, burn the bride, kill the female child, take bribe etc etc? These things were happening just a few decades due to this extremely regressive mentality. Of course if someone wants to believe that parents are gods then it is their business. To each his own god. But as a doctrine it is dangerous.

Affectionately,

Alok Da
