I quite understand your sympathetic attitude. But when it comes to considerations of war, it is a question of what idea-forces are standing behind pushing men and nations towards the holocaust. War is war and invariably involves civilian casualties unless they take a clear stand and chose their side. What happened on 7th October is not just a cruel incident. It is a whole ideology that wants to destroy Israel and subsequently (at least proclaims) conquer all other lands for the sake of Allah. The charter of Hamas says that Israel has to be destroyed. It is unwilling to concede a single inch of land to Israel and believes that the Israelites are their enemies according to their (un)holy scripture and to wipe them out is their sacred duty! How does one co-exist with such a people?
Yes, Indians sympathise with Israel because here we face a similar situation where our next-door neighbour and its indoor followers believe in ghazba-e-hind, to reclaim India for Allah by any means! One day, sooner or later India may have to face a similar choice, either to continue bleeding slowly and stay crippled or else to sort it out once and for all decisively. Given this background, I don’t see anything wrong about Israel’s demand of disarming itself and returning the hostages as a precondition for ceasefire. I can also understand their disappointment at the duplicity and hypocrisy of the world leaders who refuse to call out the dangers of Islam while pointing fingers at Israel.
One cannot emphasise enough that the number one danger to the world today is the remnants of the Pan-islamic idea and the Communists neither of whom recognise the nation unit and believe in aggressive expansionism. A Palestinian state, if it comes into existence will be only a decoy for the extremists agenda. It is simply a way to hoodwink people. If one really wants peace in the Middle East, the territory of Gaza should be turned into an International Peace Zone claimed by no country. The Moslems anyways don’t much believe in nation unit and can easily absorb the other Muslims in the area. Any other solution will simply delay the inevitable and even worse, given the recent pact of Saudis with Pakistan to use their armed forces (including nuclear arsenal) if need arise.
Affectionately
