AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

Some one said in an online Pathachakra that Sri Aurobindo directed some disciples to leave the Ashram if they are not believing Sri Maa as the Divine Mother. How far this is based on facts?

He did not direct but his brother Barin and Dilip Kumar Roy eventually ended up leaving the Ashram.

One reason attributed to their departure is their lack of faith in the Mother.

There was also another disciple whom Sri Aurobindo did suggest that if he is unable to have faith in the Mother and listen to Her, it may be better for him to be elsewhere.

Sri Aurobindo had made it abundantly clear that the entire arrangement in the Ashram including the progress of the sadhaks was completely in the Mother’s hands. He also made it abundantly clear that opening to the Mother is the key to this Yoga. So claiming to be in the Yoga but refusing to have faith in the Mother or opening to Her is in itself a sign that one is not serious about the Yoga itself.

Affectionately,

Alok da.

I am aware that one should be above personal likes and dislikes toward work. Work should be done as Nishkama Karma. We need to understand that there are in us not one but two natures. One nature is that which operates on the surfaces and is the result of our conditioning and habit of thoughts, feelings, actions that develop in the course of our growing up process.
