AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

What is the significance of lighting incense? Why do we do it🤔?

The world of sensory experience is closely connected with the elemental energies and beings of the subtle physical world. These beings get attracted or repulsed by certain smells. For example smell of Rose, lotus, Jasmine, Lavendar flower etc attract benevolent beings whereas smell of fear, sex, tobacco, alcohol attracts malevolent energies in the atmosphere.

Besides this incense offering can be both a symbolic means as well as a concrete outer expression of one’s aspiration or prayer rising towards God. While the prayer may last a few minutes, the incense becomes a material medium to continue the offering even after the person has gone.

Affectionately,

Alok Da
