Context: AI knows about us too much these days. When I ask it to compose a mail for my manager, it starts the mail with my manager name. There was a case in early days of AI when it pretended to be blind to get through captcha. Given how rapidly itās advancing- I feel at some point, AI can write code to make more AI.
Increasing machination of life does pose risks, especially the atrophy of certain natural capacities and faculties of human existence. While a portion of the mind does develop along the lines that the machine dictates, certain most important aspects that define us as humans, particularly love and compassion, sympathy, deep reflection to discover the deeper answers to questions that vex us, robbing us of the sense of wonder so needed for progress, tend to diminish. Worse than the AI knowing more about us is the growing recognition that AI is being used for vested interests by silently dictating our choices, controlling what we think and how we feel, manipulating elections and dictating the course of things.
Yet there are and will be human beings who will not allow AI to be their master, who would use it wisely and above all know that thy ultimate salvation of mankind does not lie in the evolution of machines but in the evolution of man himself. Though few, the number of such people is going to increase until mankind itself evolves beyond the AI and a new humanity appears out of the old. This too is a silent revolution going on without being noticed and the future hope lies there.
Affectionately,
Alok Da
