AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

Sir Namaste, I’m unable to understand and connect the below lines from SAVITRI (Page: 599-600), particularly about the last three lines: 📖🕊️[…]

In that tremendous darkness heavy and bare
She atoned for all since the first act whence sprang
The error of the consciousness of Time,
The rending of the Inconscient’s seal of sleep,

The primal and unpardoned revolt that broke
The peace and silence of the Nothingness
Which was before a seeming universe
Appeared in a vanity of imagined Space
And life arose engendering grief and pain: ….

These lines that appear in Savitri Book 10 Canto 1 (Ref. https://incarnateword.in/cwsa/34/the-dream-twilight-of-the-ideal#p6) describe the state inflicted upon Savitri by the Darkness and Falsehood whose home is in the Inconscience. Savitri has reached the bottom of the dark Abyss that draws creation towards itself as if it is an error. It inflicts the sense of doom, despondence and hopelessness, punishes life and love with the sense of guilt and sin, instills the idea that the world is a meaningless error and vanity with extinction through death and doom, pralaya, the sole possible end. This darkness, by the action of an adverse Asuric Maya creates the appearance that God made a mistake by disturbing the sleep and peace of the Inconscience through the emergence of life full of grief and pain.

This state disheartens mankind from the evolutionary adventure of life, creating a sense of unreality and hopelessness from which one should withdraw by sinking into the darkness of death. Basically, it is a state that negates life, negates creation, negates evolution and denies the right to be happy, to live and love and be.

Affectionately,

Alok Da
