AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER

How to do inner work on vanity and pride and ego of I’m better, and then also seeking attention and love, and approval, Being scared of disapproval. Being watchful of what I’m doing when people are around, like they’ll judge. πŸ™πŸ¦‹[…]

I’ve been looking into it… But I can’t find any way. It comes up in different disguises. More smarter each time. But then investing so much time in these, it’s a very exciting mental activity, but no solution comes.

The simplest solution is not to think about oneself and instead be preoccupied with learning new things, developing new capacities, cultivating hobbies and interests. When you have a little free time, reflect upon the mysteries of existence. Think about how much we do not know and must know, how much we are yet to accomplish. Think about what we aspire to be rather than what we were or are. Have an aim too high, a goal too vast and rare and sublime for anyone to compete. Find your true swadharma and go about living by its truth. Remember, there are no two persons who are the same. Each is unique. Discover this uniqueness in you, what would truly define you, and then you will never feel the need to be defined by someone else. Read the biographies of the great ones and the path they took to realise and express the truth within them.Β

Affectionately,

Alok Da

The talk sounded like you were putting down Marriage as a concept! True, some regions do this horse ride/wasting money, which is in bad taste. However, Marriage as a concept gives the monkey minds a framework. πŸ₯ΈπŸ’πŸ’’[…]

Yes, I agree that for the average human being, these outer frameworks and social institutions do serve a purpose of holding people together. Of course, as I mentioned, marriage or not, love and togetherness can be beautiful and ought to be so. But for that, man needs to evolve beyond the present frameworks, which operate as long as one accepts the limits of dos and don’ts. …
