AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER

When I finish work I can’t seem to switch off. I end up thinking about lots of things I missed in the chaos of hospital as we’re often seeing 2-3 sick patients at a given time. Then it affects my sleep, and I focus very hard at work, I make sure to get enough sleep, I read, walk, have quite a balanced external factors. But fresh out of graduation it’s inevitable things gets missed here and there, and if mistakes are picked up by seniors then they threaten to sue you🫨 [Conti]

How do I stop this, I feel like I’m living in constant anxiety of missing something, doing something wrong, both in work and out of work.

First thing is to cultivate an inner quietude as it is only in a peaceful inner state that one can see better, think better, act better. For that seek some time to sit quietly and call Her Peace. It also helps to take a bath or simply wash the hands and feet and face as soon as one returns from work as it removes many work related formations that stick and come home with us.

Set apart a separate time to go through the day as an impartial witness. See where things could have been dealt with in a better way. Life is a constant learning and errors are the steps towards truth. It is obvious that what is done is done. One cannot undo it and hence brooding over it is a waste of energy. So too one cannot control the reactions of others and hence thinking about it serves no purpose except for mounting the anxiety. The only thing one can and should do is to learn and grow. If there was something technically wrong then learn it correctly and practice it. Most errors stem either from a lack of adequate knowledge / the proper way to do something or else (and this is more common than we suspect) due to inattention. The remedy is just to be more conscious and focussed during the work.

Finally offer all your worries and fears and anxieties to Her with complete faith that once offered at Her Feet She will do what is needed.

The only thing one should bother about is if there was a wrong intention or a badwill behind the action. It is intent that matters most and has the greatest impact upon our inner and outer life. Rest simply grows and blossoms as life flows by. Keep this larger picture always behind and learn to be a witness to events rather than being too much personally involved in it.

Affectionately,

Alok Da
