AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

We know of so many people who are facing impossible situations and problems and they are helpless. They do not know what to do or whom to ask.

This is a dedicated site for those who are searching for answers, who want to break from their present repeating circles of life and looking for answers that will understand them, help them find a new way-a new solution towards life beautiful and Divine.

Could you please explain the concept of “Tri Sandhya or Sandhyavandanam” of Gayatri given in scriptures? The mata is worshipped daily three times in the Morning, Afternoon & Evening in three different forms – Brahmani/Saraswati, Vaishnavi/Lakshmi & Rudrani-Shabhavi/Kali-Durga respectively. On the basis of this, can we consider Mother Gayatri or Savitri as one of the complete forms of Adyashakti for her worship🤔?

The three times sandhya vandana recommended for worship relates to the movement of the earth around the sun. Each phase is symbolic of the cosmic

Alok Da, You keep saying that Education should always be Free. Then, what has been the need of Guru Dakshina is not an honorarium. It is a spontaneous expression of gratitude in a student who has been trained and equipped to meet the challenge of life, whose mind and heart have been shaped by the Guru, and in? Isn’t this some form of honorarium to the teacher🤔?

Rule of ego may be over but it doesn’t appear so in the outer life today, especially in India – I just went there for month and saw it myself how the culture has turned to worship anyone with 100 Cr + and all the rest of the nonsense – how 50% of the people are living in horrible conditions and the 2.5% are controlling everything. Now one thing about these ‘big heads’ is that they all have a massive ego – ego beyond anything – they live in the vital and hold a lot of lower vital force😥.

Appearances are often misleading and as far as the average mass of mankind is concerned, especially the breed of politicians and business houses, it is

I often feel pressured to get married, buy a house, a car, and follow all the typical expectations society sets. Even though deep down I’m not someone who genuinely wants marriage, I still get influenced when I see others tying the knot, having children, and making good money. It sometimes makes me question my own choices 😥and the direction of my life. They seem to be living happy, fulfilling lives and that sometimes leaves me wondering if I’m missing out.

First thing needed is be clear about the goal of one’s life. Whether marraige can give happiness or not is a later consideration. First thing

I have a really big problem. I’ve been through lots in life and when it just seemed to get a little brighter again its sort of plunged. And I feel so weak at heart, not because of anybody else but myself. I have everything in life outwardly, but I was so depressed before. Then I had a psychic opening and everything became light and sun, but I’ve lost it now and this time I’m in some deep darkness that is worse than anything I’ve felt before. [Conti]

The first thing is to stop believing in the night and get into the mire of self-blame, guilt etc which only makes matters worse. There

In the Old Yogas, Yogins have confirmed to have Self Realisation or realization of Jivatma. But according to my understanding from Sri Aurobindo’s writings, Jivatma is the Vigyanamaya Purusha whose abode is Supermind. But since non of the realizations from Old Yogas had reached the Supramental Consciousness, then how we can say that they have realized the Jivatman which is also the goal of Vedantic realization🤔?

The origin of Jivatman is in the Supermind but a portion of it descends in the adventure of Time and Space as the psychic essence

What to do in situations when you feel uncomfortable going to social functions because of people getting drunk there, etc. when it’s your close relative’s invitation😥? Socially, it would be considered rude and devious to decline attending such events. In terms of one’s career, it can even be harmful to do so because you will miss out on a lot of business opportunities, as ridiculous as it may sound. But on the other hand, I find myself really feeling uncomfortable in such events, almost suffocating. Is it okay to openly share that due to your spiritual path, you don’t want to engage in such activities, or is it better to come up with some excuse or other, such as you have some important work to do, etc? This is a situation I’m facing on a regular basis, and so far I’ve only been submitting to the pressure, to my own discomfort and dissatisfaction.

I can understand this very well having gone through it during my Air Force days. I can share my formula with you and it is

In the light of Gita’s concept of tyaga and sanyasa, can we look at Buddha’s spiritual actions as an example of sanyasa, external renunciation? Because he gave up on kingdom and family to be able to pursue Truth. Then again, from what I have read of Buddha’s words himself, he did not pay much attention to external fanfare. He told the monks ‘You can put on the robe in fifteens minutes but learning true monkhood will take you lifetimes of effort as one needs to have a pure mind first.’ This looks like he emphasised more on tayra 🤨. I was wondering how you look at this.

I never felt a sanyasi in the Buddha just as I never felt a sanyasi in Sri Aurobindo leaving behind everything as he sailed to
