AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER

Questions on Mother, Sri Aurobindo and Savitri

I want to know if I knew the Mother even in my past births. Had I been closer to Mother and stayed in Pondicherry even in my immediate previous birth? Also, at times, you mention references about Sadhakas of Pondicherry Ashram and In fact other popular personalities like Napoleon, Gandhi, Aurangzeb, etc to have been Vibhutis in past life. I want to learn more. Where can I find to read them🤔?

Napoleon, Augustus Caesar, Leonardo Da Vinci, Rishi Agastya are some of the known Vibhitis of Sri Aurobindo whereas Joan of Arc, Queen Catherine the great

Sri Aurobindo explains to Nirod da: ‘A little observation ought to show that you are not manufacturing your own thoughts, but rather thoughts occur in you. Thoughts are born, not made—like poets, according to the proverb. Of course, there is a sort of labour and effort when you try to produce or else to think on a certain subject, but that is a concentration for making thoughts come up, come in, come down, as the case may be, and fit themselves together. The idea that you are shaping the thoughts or fitting them together is an egoistic delusion. They are doing it themselves, or Nature is doing it for you, only under a certain compulsion;’🤔

What is infrarational in Sri Aurobindo’s terminology? In our today’s society, what are the infrarational elements? The new-age movement seems to have absorbed some spiritual intuitions but their expression is distorted. Are these infrarational in some way🤔? What’s the best solution to develop in the upward route from an infrarational position? I work in a scientific research background and a lot of confusions arise from within science itself and how most scientists/researchers explore the reality. The scientific method itself seems to have been diluted and an approval of masses are enough to establish the status quo. It’s not the same everywhere, but it is hard to fight this tendency in the current times.

Infrarational is primarily the vital animal, the physical and sense driven as well as the entire subconscious life of man. It also includes those elements

Sir, is there any arrangement in the ashram to volunteer for a short time? I wish to take a break of a week from work and come to Pondicherry (whenever it’s possible). Will I be assigned work? Also, I have never been in Pondicherry for more than a few hours. Whenever I come for a day’s visit, what is the best way to spend my time😊 ?(apart from Pranam and meditation at the samadhi which the first priority naturally) [Conti]

There is generally no such arrangement for a week-long volunteering since one needs to learn the work first. It will be better to come and

In letters on yoga Sri Aurobindo said theres the vital which brings us outward and downward and theres the psychic which is aways close to Mother. Then there is the witness purusha which has to choose where it sides and has to stand with the psychic and reject the lower movements. What is the difference between the witness purusha and the soul, are they the same thing? How does one make the witness purusha stand on the side of the psychic🤨?

The Witness Purusha is the inner being, mainly the inner mental that can separate itself and stand back from the workings of outer nature. This
