AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

We know of so many people who are facing impossible situations and problems and they are helpless. They do not know what to do or whom to ask.

This is a dedicated site for those who are searching for answers, who want to break from their present repeating circles of life and looking for answers that will understand them, help them find a new way-a new solution towards life beautiful and Divine.

You rightly speak about the necessity of women being given a fair chance and freedom in the modern world but in emphasizing this positive aspect don’t we also lose grip on reality and mask ourselves with glosses about the dark, chaotic, chthonic and subtle manipulative aspects of female nature😡. Young women of today have such cunning will to power by guilt tripping even boys with narratives parallel to Christian original sin about masculinity. Even the so called religious women are only religious in so far as it aggrandises them by saying how women are forms of the devi. many of them use both feminist narratives and also traditional narratives very conveniently as it suits them. I am asking this in the light of the recent suicide case that’s on news.

We have to see this not only cross sectionally but also longitudinally as they have developed and evolved over milleniums. Men being endowed with brute

Alok da, how to develop the talent and cognitive skills to deal with such multifaceted subjects like Sri Aurobindo did. I mean it kind of makes me marvel how between different volumes of works on philosophy, poetry, world history, philology, yoga etc.. his metamorphosises as if he’s a master at each one of them. He easily changes even the writing style be it in poetry and prose, the style of his revolutionary writings like bandemataram, karmayogin is quite different from the life divine, and also in poetry if we compare Ilion and Savitri etc..Is it a possible for seekers in general to have such polymath like talent or is it better to stick to one thing or is it just inborn and we can’t train ourselves🤔

Sri Aurobindo attributed the development of certain faculties especially of inspiration, intuition, flow of poetry, etc to the Yoga. As regards Yoga itself he attributed

Earlier I enjoyed learning and wanted to do higher studies. But now I’m been given the opportunity, I don’t feel the enthusiasm and excitement to learn and rather facing reading-and-writing-blocks most of the time..rendering to decreased efficiency and effectiveness of learning, decreased performance, feeling less creative and joyous to study and more or less…a mental and physical burnout and distressed out of not being able to meet the targets set by academicians at college for students😥

It often happens that as a child we get interested in a subject or develop an area of interest. But as we grow towards adulthood

When I fail to get the respect I think I deserve from others, I have a tendency of protecting my ego by putting them down in my mind. The reason for doing so is that I believe it is important for me to have a healthy self-esteem. Perhaps this is also a reaction driven by an inferiority complex of some kind instilled in me by my highly critical and judgemental father😪. How do I maintain a healthy self-esteem in life? I’ve been trying to practice positive affirmations about myself (something fairly popular in today’s pop psychology).

Yes, the attitude of parents, especially critical remarks can have a devastating effect on children. It can injure self-esteem greatly which may lead to a

This question is related to a series of experiences I am having. As I have turned to the Mother and Sri aurobindo, I feel very close to mother kali which is weird because before this I Have never in my life prayed to a female deity. Kali ma is showing her presence every time I think of her. How do I pray 🙏to her in a way Sri Maa would like me to?

In Sri Aurobindo’s Yoga there is no separate praying to different powers and aspects of the Divine Mother that may become prominent in their action
