AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

The Mother and Sri Aurobindo have used these terms extensively in relation to the Evolution of Beings. What is the difference in their fundamental meaning? Does Involution happen first and then Evolution? Or do both processes occur simultaneously? πŸ˜ŠπŸ™πŸ»πŸͺ·πŸŒ„πŸͺ

Involution is the result of the Divine Consciousness limiting itself through selective concentration and thereby entering into a state of ignorance and eventually Inconscience. Since the Divine is infinite, the Inconscience too is infinite.Β

Evolution is what begins after the process of Involution. It is the progressive release of the Divine Consciousness involved in the Inconscience. It is an ongoing process, as we know.Β

Is the Involution also an ongoing process going on continuously? Well, what is going on constantly is the descent of the Divine into creation as it is emerging out of the Inconscience. There is a general descent of the Divine Forces into creation through the layers and levels of consciousness, as well as special descents through the Avatars, opening the possibility of a higher and higher evolutionary ascent.Β

So we may say that the process of Involution, that is, the descent, is going on always, but it is being progressively modified by the layers of consciousness in between. It is touching the Inconscience through the material creation, not to increase its darkness but to awaken it more and more.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

It would be counter evolutionary if we keep reincarnating in the same family and similar circumstances with same people and friends around us. Rebirth is not a static, repetitive, mechanical process of karma but an evolutionary …
