Each one is free to do with what they want individually but as far the Centre is concerned, it should be dedicated to Reading, studying and contemplating upon Sri Aurobindo and The Mother. Already they have left a treasure house or truths, of the past as well as the future. I don’t see any reason studying any other scripture in a centre dedicated to Sri Aurobindo and The Mother. It will only create confusion, especially because Sri Aurobindo contains all that has been realised in the past but additionally, he has brought something unique for the future that is found nowhere.
The only justification of Ramayana and the Mahabharata could be its familiarity and in certain ways relatability to the average Hindu. But then it can always be read individually by those interested. But studying it systematically at the Centre doesn’t serve any purpose and may be even be distracting and confusing.
Affectionately,
Alok Da
