AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

I was reading about the experience of an American Professor who was visiting the Ashram when Sri Aurobindo was giving Darshan. In the waiting line, he supposedly tried negotiating a bit more time than others because he had come so far. πŸ‘οΈπŸ”₯[…]

No one is getting more than five seconds. He wanted at least a minute or two, and the boy supposedly told him that so much time would, in fact, burn him down, and he got a bit perplexed. Still, he said that, in fact, it was true, and it’s as if Sri Aurobindo x-rayed/zapped to the very ground of his being in those five seconds and had a Rebirth and an Initiation. After reading this, I don’t know why I tried staring into the eyes of Sri Aurobindo in this picture that’s available on the cover page of Savitri – he looks straight into the camera in this picture. Honestly, I got a bit scared within just two or three seconds. Usually, I feel the gravitas and radiance when I see his other pictures, but I got a bit scared for the first time. Is it because I was trying to somehow subconsciously trying to check/ verify the experience of the American Professor? Do wrong intentions/ scepticism create such reactions?

Absolutely. When we try to judge the Divine or doubt and verify it is like a salt doll trying to gauge the depth of the ocean. It is intimidated and is afraid of losing its little self completely. The American professor did not go to test him but to receive the Divine Grace in a state of humility and aspiration to stay a little longer in Sri Aurobindo’s Presence. He was not trying to look into Sri Aurobindo’s eyes but to have his Darshan. I hope you have had a fleeting glimpse of the power that Sri Aurobindo holds. Perhaps it is the perfect occasion to surrender oneself to Sri Aurobindo and The Mother.Β

Affectionately,

Alok Da

What is the symbolism behind the puranic story of Rudra chasing Surya with his trident, when Surya defeated the demon Vidyunmali who was a devotee of Rudra, and subsequently felling down of Surya to Kashi?πŸ”±βš‘πŸ”₯

This is an alternate version which is clearly suspect. The original story is clearly symbolic of the triple forces of Nature, Sattwa, Rajas and Tamas, the three chariots of three asura brothers, notably of gold, silver and iron. The three modes of nature are never aligned. If and when aligned, the Asuras die and the Self is liberated. To do that …

I hear alot that Christian missionaries have a big presence in Andhra Pradesh, India. They are meant to be very rich. What did Sri Aurobindo and Mother say about Christian missionaries and how to manage them?πŸ‘£πŸ•ŠοΈβ›ͺβ˜€οΈ

The Mother and Sri Aurobindo laughed at the stupidity of religous conversions. They saw Religion as a spent force which is destined to be overpassed by the growing spiritual impulse in man. The upsurge of conversions, whatever its temporary success is destined to fail. The evolving human soul cannot be satisfied for long in any …
