The Mother and Sri Aurobindo laughed at the stupidity of religous conversions. They saw Religion as a spent force which is destined to be overpassed by the growing spiritual impulse in man. The upsurge of conversions, whatever its temporary success is destined to fail. The evolving human soul cannot be satisfied for long in any limited thought or belief. Though they saw in Christ one of the Avatars, they also saw in Christianity and the Church with its emphasis on exclusivity as a dark web of the forces of falsehood. But they didn’t engage themselves much with it because they saw its eventual death and, as a solution, the further spiritual evolution of man upon which they focused.
